Just like previous years, Gelderland once again presented their new collection during the IMM 2016 in Cologne. Not only does the new spot at Design Post offer more space, it also means endless new possibilities. One of these is the addition of an upper level, which measures 25 square meters. This space, decorated fully in black & white retro-design style, displays the Endless couch and the relaunched armchair 400.
Inside the Design Post booth, the main colours are ocher, gold, and deep dark purple, with a subtle touch of orange to add some freshness. Colours that compliment the designs by one of Gelderland's newest designers, Remy Meijers.
Remy, who is known for his sober and serene interiors, is a perfect match for Gelderland. He loves how the company allows designers full control over every single detail when it comes to the execution of their designs, and in turn Gelderland loves the no-nonsense look of Remy's designs. Remy's couch is available in a variety of beautiful greyish and brown tones, and oozes sober luxury.
Gelderland believes in traditional craftsmanship, rather than mass produced products. The entire production process is taken care of by the company itself, from the cutting of the foam, to the factory where every item is put together manually. Fabrics are from Kvadrat, Gabriel and De Ploeg, and with their unique system that uses strips to attach the cover to the product, covers can easily be cleaned or replaced by a completely different design. The hardwood beech frame is indestructible, and like their slogan says: this is furniture for generations.
In addition to the new collection, some classics have been added to the collection on display in Cologne: Small Square, Roderick Vos' famous solid oak side tables, are now available in a dark as well as light wood version. Lex Pott's Ori table, made out of one single piece of steel, is now available in a larger size. On top of this, we see the return of Jan de Bouvrie's classic armchair 400 model from 1979: a contemporary design with a slender piping system, and an elegant swivel base. The 6400 sofa, a design by Henk Vos, has also undergone some changes and will now be made available at an attractive price.
The relaunch is all about quality and comfort, which has always been important to Gelderland. The new collection will be made available on January 18th, at Gelderlands’ permanent exhibition at the Cologne Design Post.
