There is a special story behind the famous 430 sofa, better known as the Cube sofa. The story begins in 1969 when Gelderland founder Koene Oberman visits the Goed Wonen furniture shop in Bussum, owned by the Des Bouvrie family.

The young ambitious Jan des Bouvrie shows him some first design sketches (of the Cube sofa) and manages to convince Oberman. This would become Des Bouvrie's first design ever to go into production. His Cube Sofa became an icon in the design world and played an important part in Gelderland's success.

Jan des Bouvrie's designs have been awarded numerous prizes and accolades over the years. The 430 Cube sofa is also included in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Centraal Museum Utrecht.

The Cube Sofa is part of the 430 series which includes several options. For example, in addition to a 2-seater sofa, a 3-seater sofa is also available, plus a 430 armchair.

We produce the Cube sofa locally and by hand in our Culemborg factory. The sofa is therefore entirely of Dutch origin. Thanks to our unique strip upholstery, it is also possible to reupholster the sofa, so that the furniture lasts for generations. We give a 7-year guarantee on upholstery fabrics, leather and foam and a 20-year guarantee on the beech body.
